The Law Offices of Kenneth Berger is a South Carolina personal injury and wrongful death law firm with offices in Columbia and Myrtle Beach. Founded in 2011 by attorney Kenneth E. "Kenny" Berger, the firm represents people whose lives have been changed by a serious injury and families who have lost someone they love, serving clients throughout the Midlands, the Grand Strand, and across South Carolina.
What led us to this work? Why do we place special emphasis on people with brain injuries, children hurt in someone else's care, and victims of drunk drivers? The answer has less to do with the law than with the people we've met along the way.
How Our South Carolina Injury Law Firm Began
On January 3, 2011, Kenneth "Kenny" Berger opened the firm. He had recently turned 29. Most people told him he was too young to go out on his own, but Kenny had a clear vision of what his firm would become. His father had opened a dental practice at 25, so in many ways, Kenny felt like he was right on schedule.
The firm started with two rooms in a space shared with another business. From the beginning, Kenny believed that if you always put clients first and focus on values rather than profits, the firm would grow. It has, from that small shared office to a team serving clients across South Carolina from offices in Columbia and Myrtle Beach.
Why We Focus on Life-Changing Injuries
Some injuries heal in a few weeks. Others change everything: a person's ability to work, to care for their family, or to recognize themselves in the mirror. Those are the cases we've built our practice around.
Brain injuries hold a special place in that work. They're often invisible from the outside, easy for insurance companies to downplay, and devastating for the people living with them. As Kenny puts it:
"I come from a family of doctors, but my love for the law drove me to this profession. Many years ago, I developed a strong interest in neuroscience and sought ways to combine my passions. I found that representing brain injury victims allows me to apply the law in a way that achieves my greatest goal - ensuring innocent victims receive great medical care and full justice."
Kenneth E. Berger, Founding Attorney
The same sense of purpose drives our work for children harmed in someone else's care and for families hurt by drunk drivers. These cases are about more than compensation. Holding the people and businesses responsible accountable helps make our roads, schools, and communities safer for everyone.
How We Work With Our Clients
A serious injury rarely shows up in just one place. It's in the medical bills, and it's also in the mornings you can't lift your child, the job you had to step away from, and the everyday things that are harder now. Our approach is built around understanding that whole story.
- We take fewer cases so we can do deeper work. We are not a high-volume firm. Limiting our caseload means every client gets the time and attention a serious injury requires.
- We learn your story, not just your claim. We spend time with you and the people close to you to understand what your life looked like before the injury and what it looks like now.
- You'll always know where your case stands. We keep you informed at every step, and we're easy to reach when you have questions.
- We handle the insurance companies for you. We serve as the liaison between you and the insurance company, so you can focus on healing.
- We prepare every case as if it's going to trial. That preparation is what leads to fair results, whether your case settles or is presented to a jury.
Results That Reflect the Work
Every case is different, but these results show what thorough preparation can mean for our clients:
- $26 million for a young child who suffered severe chemical burns in a Myrtle Beach resort pool. Read the case result.
- $8.35 million for a South Carolina drunk driving crash. Read the case result.
- $7.36 million paid by a bar and drunk driver to families after a fatal crash. Read the case result.
- $5 million for an Orangeburg mother after a collision with a commercial truck. Read the case result.
The results are specific to the facts and legal circumstances of each of the clients' cases and should not be used to form an expectation that the same results could be obtained for other clients in similar matters without reference to the specific factual and legal circumstances of each client's case.
