When I was growing up, it was always doctor, lawyer, doctor, lawyer. I didn't even know you had another option. I was in this ninth-grade biology class, and I could not figure out for the life of me how a cell worked. I guess I'm going to be a lawyer. There were different points after that where I tried to kind of fight the idea as I thought about going and maybe being a college professor, a writer, or a filmmaker. The cool part about being a lawyer is it allows me to do all those things. Even more importantly, it's the ability to tell the stories and connect with people within our justice system and do it for a greater cause, to do it for one person's benefit but also for the community's benefit.

The most rewarding part for me has changed now that we have a child. I, of course, love the connection with clients, but the most rewarding part for me is when I get home, and I hold my baby girl, knowing that we've taken part in making the world just a little bit better and a little bit safer by standing up to injustice and working to hold dangerous people and dangerous corporations accountable. I can feel really good about that.

The first brain injury case we ever did had a big impact on me because I got to see what a human story it was, that the brain was, in many ways, along with our soul, who we are. When the brain was damaged, it fundamentally changed who this person was. I still think about him. That's been a long time ago, but it's rare that a day or a week goes by when I don't think about that case.

I wake up real early, and I try to get a little bit of work done. Then my baby wakes up, and just about every day, I feed her and get to spend some time with my wife before I come to the office. Then I go home, make sure I'm home in time for dinner and put our child to bed. Then I get to be with my wife. She's my best friend. Life's very beautiful that way. I have a very fulfilling, challenging but fulfilling job and a wonderful, wonderful family. A lot of the considerations now are what's going on with my family, what's going on with my clients, what's going on with my community, and then, at the same time, making sure that I've got a little bit of time to get out and enjoy the things that I enjoy beyond the work.

Meet South Carolina Personal Injury Attorney Kenneth Berger

On January 3, 2011, Kenneth (“Kenny”) Berger started the firm. He had recently turned 29. Most people said he was too young to go “out on his own," but Kenny had a clear vision of what his firm would become. His father started a dental practice at the age of 25, so in many ways, Kenny felt like an old man by the time he started his own practice.

Even though we had only two rooms and shared space with another business when our doors first opened, Kenny understood that if you always put clients first and focus on values rather than profits, the firm would grow. And it did…

Our South Carolina Personal Injury Law Firm Are Here to Help You

Like doctors, lawyers have an oath. When I took the oath, I pledged to my clients “faithfulness, competence, diligence, good judgment and prompt communication.” I also swore not to pursue any unjust lawsuit. The lawyer’s oath is not just a set of words but a moral code. It is the code that guides my practice. Everyone who works with me shares my commitment. We are not just a law firm - we are a team.

Our job is to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, guide you through the process, and achieve the best possible outcome. We approach this task with a sense of urgency, and an eye toward results. As my staff and I often discuss, each moment in our office provides an opportunity to make a client’s life better. It is the reason we show up early, stay late, and devote our full resources to each case we accept.

Our Goal: A Safer, Healthier South Carolina

Since day one, we have been dedicated to helping good people who experience life-changing injuries at the hands of another person or business. We all have a right to safety. When one person’s right to a safe road, doctor, or place of employment is violated, our entire community is threatened. Our firm confronts community dangers and works to keep families safe by holding rule-breakers accountable for the harm they cause. The goal of a safer, healthier community is at the heart of every case we accept and the motivation behind every step we take as a firm.

Our mission to make South Carolina a safer, better place to live extends beyond our office walls. We have created scholarships for students, opportunities for children battling illness, and a weekly charitable effort known as Giving Tuesday. We also seek to uplift our profession and its ethical commitment by way of seminars, journal articles, and board positions.

When Good People Suffer Harm, We Are Here to Help

We want to earn our client's trust, respect, and admiration. We want other attorneys and judges to use words like, "honest," "hard working," and "effective," when describing us. And we want people like you in our community and across South Carolina to know that when good people suffer serious harm, we are here to help.

In the last nine years, our office space, staff, and impact upon the community have grown. We don’t intend to stop any time soon. To learn more about the ways we can be of service, call our Columbia, SC office at 803-790-2800 or our Myrtle Beach office at 843-427-2800, or you can start a live chat to speak with a member of our team 24/7.
