Attorney Brad Lanford recently authored an article for the Winter 2021-2022 edition of South Carolina Association for Justice’s publication, The Justice Bulletin.
In the article, Lanford drew from his prior experience as a defense lawyer to discuss some of the pitfalls and challenges associated with underinsured motorist (UIM) bad faith cases. He examines how attorneys can determine if pursuing a UIM bad faith suit will be worth their client’s time by uncovering whether there is a genuine disagreement over value. He also analyzed the range of options for practitioners when an insurance carrier refuses to comply with a demand for payment of the UIM coverage.
